Amitabh Bachchan to turn Red FM RJ for a day

MUMBAI:  The Shehenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan will ditch being in front of the camera to go behind the mic, turning radio jockey for an entire day at Red FM on Thursday, 5 February 2015. Right from calling up listeners to passing on messages to higher authorities on their behalf, he will do everything that an RJ does. He will become a 'common man's voice'. RED FM on that particular day will change its name to 'All India Shamitabh Radio'.

Speaking about the special day, Red FM, COO, Nisha Narayanan, said, "In an endeavour to bring our listeners closer to the legendary star, we planned this initiative with Shamitabh which celebrates Mr. Bachchan's voice as the voice of the common man. Amitabh Bachchan is like an institution in himself, adored by people across age groups. It will be interesting to see how listeners react when Mr. Bachchan interacts with them as an RJ. We are confident that we will make 5 February a memorable day for our listeners across the RED FM Network."

While recording the promotional bites for the one-day job of an RJ the Bollywood star tweeted, "And doing some rather complicated RJ'ing for RED FM 93.5!! Goodness how do these guys manage it!! I am at a loss"

There was a time when Bachchan wanted to become a radio presenter, but after approaching a radio station, he got rejected because of his voice. His baritone vocals have now become a trademark in Bollywood.
