MUMBAI: Musicians these days are not just limiting themselves to the usual Bollywood music, but are getting bolder, especially when it comes to exploring the regional space. And the latest to try his hand at something different is host/singer/music composer Aditya Narayan.

Narayan recently recorded the title track for upcoming Marathi film ‘Carry On Maratha’. However, the singer has not sung the song in the usual Marathi style. He has experimented a bit by giving it a western touch.

“The music of this Marathi song sounds different from the usual. I’ve actually done some R&D and also added a western flavour to it. In fact, minus the Marathi lyrics, it is nothings less than an English number,” quipped the artist.

The song, which is a hip-hop number, is composed by music duo Shail-Pritesh.

“I received a call from Shail-Pritesh on a short notice and I took it up as I’ve always been open to regional music. As far as Marathi cinema is concerned, I have watched ‘Court’ and ‘Lai Bhaari’. These movies have great content,” Narayan stated.

Usually, one takes time to adapt to anything new, but that was not a case with Narayan. “I’ve always believed that I am a born Maharashtrian – having been born and brought up in Maharashtra – but this was definitely out of the ordinary for me. But, I finished the recording in one hour. The best thing about the song was that I did not have to get into a character, as this was a promotional peppy number.”

Narayan is currently busy working on his album ‘Mohabbat’. He last released the single ‘Tera Ishq Jee Paaun’ from the album on 6 August.
