MUMBAI: Diljit Dosanjh has revealed that a last-minute wardrobe emergency involving global pop icon Shakira was the unexpected reason behind his delayed arrival at the 2025 Met Gala. Making a dazzling debut at fashion’s biggest night, Diljit turned heads in a regal Maharaja-inspired look crafted by designer Prabal Gurung.

In a newly released 13-minute behind-the-scenes video, the singer-actor takes fans through his Met Gala journey — from intense outfit trials and pre-event workouts to the inevitable chaos that unfolds hours before the red carpet.

Amid the flurry of preparations, Diljit lightheartedly shares the real reason for his late appearance: Shakira’s broken dress zipper. “Shakira ki emergency ki wajah se sada kaam suffer hogaya (We are suffering because of Shakira’s emergency),” he says with a laugh. “But it’s okay. Hips don’t lie, and she doesn’t lie.”

Later in the video, while waiting backstage, Diljit adds, “They’re not taking us to the main area. All the action is happening backstage. Take us to the stage! I guess Shakira’s dress zipper broke — that’s why we’re late.” With a smile, he quips, “I knew we’d be late because of Shakira.”
