MUMBAI : Opera-trained singer-songwriter, Aditi Iyer, created waves with her debut EP ‘Dollhouse’ in 2021 when she was just in school. Following this poignant release, the dark-pop prodigy veered towards vibrant electro-pop in Deleted Your Number and went on to become the Youngest Indian Artist to simultaneously hit the No.1 spots on coveted global radio platforms. After joining Berklee College of Music, Aditi released her first summer-monsoon single 18 With You in July. Now she takes on fleeting feelings and one-sided teen crushes on her latest track Never Met You (August 3rd, 2023 release).
Embracing all it means to be a singer-songwriter on the global stage, the Berklee music student has released her second single of the summer-monsoon titled Never Met You. The track chronicles the universal yet intensely vulnerable experience of unrequited feelings and being unable to stop liking someone despite your best efforts. Never Met You features Aditi singing confidently over punch drums and flickering synths for a rhythmic cadence achieved by teaming up with chart-topping Producer Rohan Solomon.
“Never Met You channels the frustration when you think irrationally and wish you never met the person you like…. that you could just ‘undo’ their existence from your head. Even if life doesn’t work that way, sadly, it helps to express yourself and know this frustration is a normal part of life that you’ll eventually get over,” says young achiever Aditi, who has been receiving praise not just for her voice and range but also for her mature songwriting chops and versatility that enables her to switch from dark-pop to dance bops with ease.
Never Met You follows the triumphant coming-of-age club single 18 With You which was released in July 2023 by the talented singer-songwriter who holds the distinction of being the youngest Indian artist to simultaneously hit no.1 spots on two coveted global radio charts namely, World Top 200 (Indie), Europe Top 200 (Indie); along a grand debut on DRT Mainstream TOP 200 alongside her favourite pop icons Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Adele, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and more.
