South Indian music sensation Dhee collaborates with DJ Snake on ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ for Spotify Singles

The Singles program was created in 2016 to provide artists with the opportunity to re-record one of their existing songs or cover a song, and launched in India on the occasion of World Music Day.

The reworked ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ – originally produced by music producer extraordinaire Santhosh Narayanan – is a stirring blend of electronic sounds and styles that DJ Snake is known for, and Dhee’s distinctive voice.

You can stream ‘Enjoy Enjaami – Spotify Singles (with Dhee feat. Arivu & Santhosh Narayanan)’ here.

In the past, the Singles program has brought together artists from different music cultures to create something unique. The collaboration between DJ Snake and Dhee joins pairs like SahBabii and Joji, Celine Dion and Chris Isaak, and R3HAB and GATTUSO, all of whom have been a part of Spotify Singles.

“It has been an incredible journey ever since ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ released and to be able to collaborate with DJ Snake on a song that means a lot to us, was an amazing opportunity,” says Dhee, who is currently working on her debut independent album. “It’s doubly exciting because Spotify chose to launch the Singles program in India with this collaboration and I am beyond happy to be a part of it,” she adds.

The first-ever release on artist-centric platform maajja – co-founded by global music icon AR Rahman – ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ by Dhee ft. Arivu released in March to uniform applause, and quickly raced to become a viral hit. In the past three months, it has achieved enviable milestones like over 260 million views on YouTube and spawned dance challenges from Chennai to California. It even caught the ears of electronic music icon, and a fan favourite in India, DJ Snake who DM’d Dhee on Instagram soon after hearing the song.

For maajja, the inclusion of ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ and Dhee in the Spotify Singles program, has meant that their mission of amplifying the voice of South Asian independent artists globally by empowering them with complete creative control, resources and global reach is on the right track.

“The mission of maajja is to elevate South Asian independent artists to the global stage,” says Noel Kirthiraj, maajja co-founder before adding, “There is an abundance of talent, yet South Asian representation when you look at mainstream music is lacking. ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ is just the beginning of hopefully many firsts for us. DJ Snake is a hitmaker and this collaboration on ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ is very special. Super excited and humbled to have him join our mission.”
