Susmita Das unveils 'Prithvi Manthan' with the concept of climate change and pollution

MUMBAI: Singer Susmita Das released “Prithvi Manthan” with the concept of Climate Change and Pollution. which became the first song in India that is backed by the United Nations body. The song was written by Shivkumar Bilagrami.

The singer always tries to produce songs on various contemporary social issues. Her husband who is a retired Indian Forest Service officer is passionate about conservation of Environment and Pollution Control. He suggested she should produce a song on this subject.

“The most critical crisis of this century and a similar mythological event are juxtaposed and synthesized through a common thread, the Shiv Tandav Strotram”, said Susmita Das.

Sharing the involvement of the UN in this project, “We had shared the concept note and lyrics of the song with the respective Country Heads of UNEP and IUCN. They were impressed and offered support as Conservation of Environment is their main mandate”.

The singer will be happy to work on issues that impact our lives and lifestyles, which many would like to wish away. “Process of development can be sustainable, only when we strictly adhere to the Environmental Safeguards”, she concluded.
