MUMBAI: Following on from his whirling rap effort, ‘Exquisite,’ Esso dims the lights with soulful cut, ‘Nikes.’ The West London native forges a link between past and present on the wavey self-produced track, combining nostalgic soul samples with his contemporary delivery rooted in R&B and Rap. Propped up on either end by the vibe-setting Rico Mars, Esso delivers smoothly, with the same laidback demeanour he has shown throughout his career.

2020 saw a string of successful releases for Esso, most notably 'Magically', amassing 20,000 plays across all platforms. Featuring on publications such as Mixtape Madness and Wordplay, he has backed up his online presence with airtime on KISS Fresh, Rinse FM and Reprezent amongst others. Growing up on Gospel, Afrobeat, Hip Hop, Grime and R&B, the multifaceted artist is fluid in blending together his influences. Initially posting beats on Soundcloud and Youtube, Esso made the seamless transition to recording in 2016, leading on to his debut EP, ‘23:23’ in 2018. Comfortable with both rapping and singing, his songwriting takes inspiration from the likes of Frank Ocean and Brent Faiyaz, with the witty lyricism of Knucks for good measure.

Releasing under DMY Artists, 'Nikes' is the first single taken from his upcoming sophomore project, scheduled for late 2021.
