Selena Gomez reveals she wants to work with AR Rahman someday

MUMBAI: Selena Gomez has a lot to her credit.

From her teens, when she rose to prominence for her role as Alex in Emmy Award-winning Wizards of Waverly Place to the time she starred in films like Another Cinderella Story, Monte Carlo and The Fundamentals of Caring among others to now, when she's releasing back to back chartbusters, Selena has inspired many with her tremendous success, openness to talk about not just highs, but also lows, and trying to be her real self at all times.

Among the many things she's been in the news for in the past few months, it's also her Spanish-language single, Baila Conmigo that caught the attention of fans. Asked about the thought process behind the track, Selena, had explained that she just wants to get everyone dancing with the song.

"With Baila Conmigo, I want to get everyone dancing. The song acknowledges the isolation we are facing right now with the pandemic, and it’s about music being the connection among all of us," she said, adding how the track also takes into account the feeling of isolation amid the pandemic.

The actress-singer also talked about her collaboration with Rauw Alejandro and said, "For both the songs, from the very beginning, everyone got the sense of what we were working towards and how to bring it to life visually. It was a great experience altogether."

Last month, she also revealed in an interview with a portal that it's been around 10 years that she wanted to do a song in Spanish. "It’s been around 10 years since I wanted to do a Spanish language song and it is finally here," she said. When asked what's the most special memory of the song, Selena said that it's the "satisfaction" of being able to do a song in Spanish.

Asked about her take on Indian music, Selena said that she loves Bollywood music and also revealed the one Indian artiste she wants to collaborate with. "I love Bollywood music. The beats are absolutely sublime. I love AR Rahman’s work. I would love to work with him someday," she said.
