Jasleen Royal talks about music, influences, debut song

MUMBAI: True to its brand ethos, Lights- Camera Experiment, TVF delved into making a Music based show, The Music Room. The audiences’ love has been a shot in the arm for the creators. The likes of Prateek Kuhad, Naezy and Shalmali Kholgade have already graced the show. The Music Room's 'TVF take' on a chat show format has struck chord with music buffs and fans alike. In an engaging chat,  Vaibhav Bundhoo, Music Director and host of the show can be seen talking to the Indian singer and songwriter Jasleen Royal who spoke about her musical journey at length right from starting on her own to lending her voice in Bollywood and gaining popularity amongst the millennials. Jasleen’s journey from India’s Got Talent to Bollywood has been incredible and a noticeable one. The Music Room seeks to showcase the country’s famous Indie artists, exploring their musical journey including the challenges, most creative collaborations, upcoming projects and much more.

In the latest episode, she talks about how she got drawn to the music, starting solo, her music influences from Cat Stevens, Lucky Ali, A. R. Rahman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to Amit Trivedi, along with her debut song ‘Panchi Hojavan’, her creative process, doing entertaining covers, experimenting with music and her two upcoming new singles which she is planning to release this year among others.

Jasleen Royal says, "To create music you need to look within, that's what creates something original. Your personality and experiences and emotions shape up your music.  Sometimes while experiencing a block I try to break away from my immediate surroundings and go for a walk or a drive in nature or let my thoughts marinate while I do something else. I have no fixed process but I create what resonates with me."
