EarthSync announces launch of XChange sessions in Chennai!

MUMBAI: An EarthSync Initiative, XChange Sessions will take place in Chennai from November 30th – 1 December 2019 at YM Studios, Red Hills and at AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory.

XChange Sessions brings together music educators, key industry development partners, and Next-Gen music industry professionals to chart pathways for the future industry through dialogue, workshops and collaborations, building on the outcomes from the past 7 editions of IndiEarth XChange.

Indie100, the joint programme by EarthSync, KM Music Conservatory, and Queensland University of Technology, Australia, will mark its fifth edition at XChange Sessions 2019. 2 Action Packed Days: Workshops, Discussions, Live Performances, Installations Workshops at XChange Sessions include Music On Digital: Growth Hacking by Qyuki on techniques to grow fan base and revenue; From Roots to Sky with Classical Carnatic musician / film music producer Sean Roldan, exploring creative freedom that stems from classical / traditional music; critically acclaimed musician Paul Jacob’s workshop Folked Up! – an introduction to folk art and culture of India and its relevance in the 21st century; Little Things That Matter discussing realities an artist should be aware of, from professional press kits and artist managers, to contacting festival programmers and touring internationally.

Salangane from Reunion Island’s workshop Maloya: The Story of An Island and Its Music tells the story of traditional Maloya music, while EX/INTER/CHANGE, a 7 hour long sonic installation, addresses notions of exchange, patterning, perception, memory and place. Live Performances – Salangane from Reunion Island Playing Maloya music indigenous to Réunion Island that is usually sung in Creole and accompanied by traditional percussive elements – Salangane makes its Indian debut at XChange Sessions, performing live at Vapor Lounge, Feathers Hotel Chennai, on December 1st - 7:30pm. Indie100 at XChange Sessions Past editions of Indie100 India at the annual IndiEarth XChange were highly successful, offering emerging independent musicians the valuable opportunity to be mentored, recorded, mixed and mastered by top Australian and Indian producers, and an opportunity to participate and engage with the global music industry at XChange. This year’s Indie100 mentors are Sonya Mazumdar - Founder/CEO of EarthSync and founder of IndiEarth XChange; Australian recording engineer and record producer Yanto Browning, and Music/Sound Lecturer Dr. Kristina Kelman (Queensland University of Technology); Mumbai based producer and music educator Deepak Sugathan; and Dr. Adam Greig, an active performer, researcher and musicologist at A R Rahman, KM Music Conservatory. Community Initiative with Global Impact Over the years EarthSync has developed a committed network of global music education and industry institutions. Through its community initiatives, it brings its vast industry expertise for the development of the independent music and film industry and education infrastructure in the Indian Ocean-Asia region

XChange Sessions is an EarthSync initiative presented by Qyuki, in partnership with KM Music Conservatory, Queensland University of Technology, IOMMA co-financed by the Union Europeene, the French Embassy; Institut Francais, Ecole des Musiques Actuelles (EMA), with hospitality partners Feathers Hotel Chennai.
