Speaking about the song, Amaal Mallik says, “Yeh Aaina comes from a place that is deep yet happy, within me. The tune surely is romantic and wavy. It also has a sense of melancholy to it. The melodies, we had in the 50's, is what I've tried to emulate through this song and bring it as close to that era as possible.”

He further adds, “Yeh Aaina is my first ballad with Shreya and Irshad sir and collaborating with them was the highlight for me.”

On Irshad, the Chale Aana composer shares, “Irshad sir happens to understand ‘melody’ better than many musicians do. His metering and sheer ability to write a song and cut through with his jaw-dropping poetry left me amazed."

Mallik also speaks on his association with Shreya Ghoshal, “She is someone who is so experienced and versatile. We did Aashiq Surrender Hua and people loved that, but deep down I wanted to do a romantic number with her and I’m glad she said ‘yes’ for this one. Working with her doesn't feel like work as she understands the emotion and feel so quickly that we just breezed through the song like it was made for one take.”

"When you have such legends coming to the party, on your song, it can only take your melody to the next level. My approach towards its arrangement was rather simplistic because I didn't want to crowd the words and voice with too much. All in all, the song is hopeful, to take you on a journey and merge you into its mood," concludes Mallik
