Our idea is to use jazz as an inspiration: Rajeev Raja, Flautist

MUMBAI: Famous flautist Rajeev Raja will be performing timeless Broadway hits from The Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar etc at the event, ‘Jazz Goes Broadway’ more. It will be held on 5 May 2019 at NCPA.

Rajeev Raja informed Radioandmusic that they are quite excited about the performance and have got a new set of saxophone, trumpet and flute. "Jazz is a beautiful genre and we would want our jazz elements come to loud and clear keeping its music instrumental so that the ‘music bit’ gets emphasized," told Rajeev.

He further added, “The whole idea is to use jazz as an inspiration. We want people to understand various elements of jazz and how we could use known songs and glorify them. Therefore the listener knows what the melody of the song is.”

Lastly, he revealed about their upcoming projects, “This year, we want to explore the whole world and would love to go on city tours.”

Meanwhile, other musicians, who will also be performing at the event, apart from Rajeev Raja, are Rahul Wadhwani (Piano/Keys), Karl Peters (Bass), Aron Nyiro (Drums) and Adil Manuel (Guitar) with Ramon Ibrahim (Trombone), Bosco Monsorate (Trumpet) including Jarryd Rodrigues (Saxophone) rounding off the horn section.
