æHausla Na Ruthe' has taken India on the world map: Lyricist Pinky Poonawala

MUMBAI: Lyricist Poonawala, who has penned Hausla Na Ruthe – a song that essays story of an Orissan woman called Charu Maa, is on cloud nine! Her song has won the Los Angeles Film Award in the Best Music Video category.

Happy Pinky exclaims, “I am extremely happy and feel blessed to be receiving the International honors. This song has taken India on the world map with the message of environmental protection while simultaneously telling story of Women empowerment.

“Ila Arunji is such a brilliant actor, I am happy to be associated with her,” she further adds on Arun, who played Charu Maa’s character.

On being asked, what inspired her to write for the song, which has a social message, Pinky shares, “It’s actually a music video, which tells the story of a woman Charu Maa from Orissa. What inspired me to write this song was that I had an opportunity to write a lyrical story of courage and never giving up, of rising from the Ashes. I could actually give hope and courage to many people just by the power of words. Hence Writing Hausla Na Ruthe was extremely special for me.”

Lastly, spilling beans on her upcoming projects, Pinky Poonawala concludes, “I am currently writing songs for couple of films. I have already written lyrics of a few very romantic songs for very talented artists, one of them being for my husband Sourabh Joshi. All should be releasing this year.”
