I did not expect that my album would reach Grammy Awards 2019: Falu Shah

MUMBAI: Singer-songwriter Falguni Shah, who goes by the stage name of Falu, released an album on 16 February 2018, titled Falu’s B, which has been nominated in the Best Children’s Music category.

She is the only Indian nominee this year Inspired by her four-year-old son Nishaad’s curiosity about language, identity, and the food they ate at home, Falu’s Bazaar overturns a lot of the stereotypes associated with conventional children’s music. Besides a high degree of musicianship, the album exudes a great deal of depth and maturity. Radioandmusic spoke to Falguni Shah on her say about her album reaching the Grammy Awards 2019 and a lot more. Do check it out.

On being asked, if she expects her album to be nominated at the Grammy Awards, she said, “No, I hoped it would be nominated, but I never expected it to actually happen.”

Lastly, Falguni left a message for her fans, “Thanks for showing me so much love and support. I am very thankful to you for your continued support and love. I love you too.”

Furthermore on asking about her upcoming plans and projects she mentions, “I plan to draw from beautiful Urdu poetry (Ghalib and other ghazal/Sufi masters) and present these in a way that speaks to a 21st-century global audience. I love the complexity and depth of this poetry and the comparisons with Shakespearean and other Western poetic styles is obvious.

The 61st edition of the Grammy Awards will telecast on Vh1 India on 11 February 2019 at 7:30 am with a repeat telecast at 9 pm.
