The action bit is almost like a 'dance sequence: Arjun Kanungo on new song 'Tu Na Mera'

MUMBAI: Arjun Kanungo who has driven the audience crazy with his hit tracks like Aaya Na Tu, the singer has recently released a new track Tu Na Mera, which has already turned out to be a big hit. The song released under VYRL Originals has crossed 13 million views within a short span of time. Well to know more about the track we spoke to the one who has not only sung but has also featured in the track i.e Arjun Kanungo.

Spilling beans on his experience of working on the song, Arjun Kanungo exclaimed, “This has been one of the most joyful experiences of my life in terms of experiences. We worked very hard. It was a three and a half month project in which, we did four weeks of action training along with the production of the song and shooting its video.”

“It was a massive team effort as we had a dream team. Calra Dennis and I were perfect for this video. Without director Danny Mamik’s contribution, nobody would have been able to transform our thoughts into our vision to deliver this product. Devraj and Vineet have been very encouraging and have supervised us on this project. Their contribution to this is unmatchable and the video production is fabulous.

On being asked about his association with VYRL Originals, the dashing singer said, “Vinit Thakkar (Senior Vice President - India & South Asia at Universal Music) is in a very unusual position. With his amazing property VYRL Originals, he wants to make new content. I don’t think you will find someone else like him in the music business. I feel he is one of the visionaries in the music business and can see the potential of music artists.”

Further speaking about Vinit, Arjun said, “I have great respect for him, and I feel he is a great person. We are very honest with each other. He is always ready to pull me back. He will bring me back to earth. So he plays role of that mentor in the relationship, I have with him. We always need someone to supervise our work.”

“I have great respect for people who are at Universal Music. When you sign with a label, you are going them with so much trust as they would be responsible for your career. I wouldn’t have found better than the other two (Managing Director and CEO at Universal Music Group, India & South Asia Devraj Sanyal, Vinit Thakkar) of them,” he further said about the entire Universal Music team.

Lastly, Arjun spoke about his martial arts training, “I have done martial arts training earlier too, while I have grown up with guns. I have also won medals at the national level. Hence, I am comfortable around guns, but training for a music video is very different because you are doing it with other people. It’s almost like a ‘dance sequence’ because you have to know where your partner is at all times. If you watch the video, in many scenes, I have to throw people on the ground and shoot them. It has to be choreographed to a larger extent. We had to train for it and had to know what exactly we were doing in the shot. Action bit in the video took the whole day. For doing a 13-sec action, it took four weeks to get ourselves prepared for it.”

Arjun Kanungo will be further seen on one of the episodes of MTV Unplugged. He also has sung a song for a film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha with Rochhak Kohli who has written it. This song will be out soon.
