MUMBAI: Sona Mohapatra is not someone to mince words neither is Sonu Nigam. And when both of them get into a tussle, it is bound to get heated. With the recent controversy sparked by Sonu about Pakistani singers getting privileged treatment, Sona reacted to it and also the point of view of Sonu about her accusations on Anu Malik, and what followed is another controversy.

We reported what Sona had to say about Sonu’s comment. Now Sonu too has responded in an open letter to the singer. In the letter that he posted on Facebook, his only active social media handle, Sonu addresses Sona as ‘a respectable lady, who is vomiting on twitter’ and someone who is married to a close friend of his (music composer Ram Sampath). He also says that though she has forgotten the relation, he would like to maintain the decorum.  He also suggests Sona Mohapatra to not be the judge and declare punishment for the ones she accuses of misconduct. His writing suggests that as much as he supports the #MeToo movement and stands strongly by it, he doesn’t believe in common man giving judgements and looks up to law and order to takes its course.

Beyond the #MeToo movement, Sonu also replied to Sona’s refusal to accept the claims about music labels favouring Pakistani artistes that she mentioned in her open letter. Sonu said,that he was speaking for the entire fraternity, including artistes from abroad. According to him, he is just helping a collective movement to implement the Constitutional Amendment, that her husband too is complicit to,
