Do not blame Pakistani artists, says Sona Mohapatra on Sonu Nigam's recent statement, feels let down by him supporting Anu Malik

MUMBAI: Seems like Sonu Nigam’s recent statement of wanting to be from Pakistan to get work in India, has not gone well with Sona Mohapatra as the singer has shot a series of tweets against Nigam. But Sona had another major reason to be angry on the Kal Ho Na Ho singer.

Well, the Tori Surat singer lashed out at Nigam because of him extending support to Anu Malik, whom Sona had accused of harassment recently during #MeToo movement. Sonu supported Malik during his recent appearance at Agenda Aaj Tak show, where he asked people to provide proof before accusing anyone.

Sona didn’t twice before shooting a tweet on Sonu’s comments. She said, “Not 1 but possibly 100+ women & MEN can attest to Anu Malik’s deplorable abusive behaviour. I guess Mr. Sonu Nigam expects all these women/underage girls to - a) strap recording devices b)carry spy cams, other proof gathering devices cus they have much to benefit defaming him?”

She didn’t leave a chance to take the singer’s case on his recent statement of blaming Pakistani singers for not getting work in India, which hehas recently clarified by blaming media.

She tweeted, “So much sympathy for a millionaire losing work? So much empathy for his privileged family being ‘tortured’? How about the scores of girls & women he tortured? Multiple testimonies not proof enough?”

She further spoke her heart out in this tweet while mentioning other successful Indian singers, “Are Arijeet Singh, Badshah,Vishal Dadlani from Pakistan though? U’ve had your moment under the sun dear. India anoints a new ‘Male Super Star’ every 3/4/5 years without fail. Don’t blame the Pakistani artists. Also do not mix up Art & Music with Politics & Idealogy.”

Lastly, the singer also expressed, how much let down she was by Sonu’s recent statements in her latest tweet, “I always found Sonu Nigam to be brighter than most of his peers, intelligent, so talented, excellent at his craft & yes, kind too. Feel so let down hearing him talk like this & choose the dark side to side up with. I’m hoping he realises how sad this is.”
