Eight popular title tracks of television serials

MUMBAI: While music has been an integral part of Indian films, small screen is not left behind either. Television serials have some of the most memorable title tracks. Let’s have a look at tracks that resonated every household in India for a long time.

Malgudi Days:

There is certainly something about this song that even today, it is one of the most downloaded ringtones. A song that connects with a lot of nostalgia, the title track is composed Sri Lakshminarayana Vaidyanathan and is adapted version of a book by R K Laxman.

The Jungle Book:

Way before children played on iPads, The Jungle Book was the only source of entertainment for them. Every Sunday, in the 90’s, started with this song. Written by Gulzar, this song is a gem.

Dekh Bhai Dekh:

Dekh Bhai Dekh was a comedy serial but with a rather philosophical title track. The words are ‘iss rang bhari duniya mein, kya tera hai kya mera hai?’, this track was composed by Ajit Singh.

Hip Hip Hurray:

Hip Hip Hurray - a serial that embodied 90’s school life. The song was peppy and had a young vibe. Sung by KK and Hema Sardesai, the title track was loved by the young generation.

Saans:

The soulful track was sung by Hariharan and lyrics were penned by Gulzar. The song encapsulated the sensitivity of the subject the serial dealt with i.e. complexity of relationships.

Kyun Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi:

This serial, produced by Ekta Kapoor, took the nation by storm. The title was no less either. At the strike of 9pm, in the night, every household reverberated with this song.

Kasauti Zindagi Ki:

Yet another serial that had a massive fan following. The title track looked like a cinematic experience, starring Shweta Tiwari and Cezzane Khan. Composed by Babul Supriyo, this song captured hearts of millions. This serial also has a sort of records of having over 50 tracks in the span of seven years, when the serial had a successful run.

Heena:

The title track of this Simone Singh starrer serial is a version of an old ghazal from the movie Arth. Sung by Jagjit Singh and original lyrics by Kaifi Azmi, the song is poignant.
