Anup Jalota and his disciple Jasleen Matharu enter Big Boss House 12

MUMBAI: BIG Boss, the much-awaited reality show, has begun its 12th season and the excitement is palpable in the air. While there has always been an intrigue about the list of contestants and the change in format of the show, this year the Big Boss 12 team has come up with an idea that has held everyone’s curiosity.

The show is going to be based on a concept ‘Vichitra Jodi’, literally meaning weird pair. A part of this list is a pair of a renowned singer and his student. The singer is Padmashri Bhajan King Anup Jalota and his 28-year-old student Jasleen Matharu. Not just are they Guru and Shishya, but also are a rumoured couple, news that is set to shock fans, audience and families of the concerned parties. Anup has been married thrice previously and his third wife died few years ago. They have a son together

The second episode was largely based on this Vichitra Jodi and the Padmashri recipient was made to stand in the katgarha (mock-up courtroom) and questioned about their pairing. This was followed by Jasleen’s enquiry. Jasleen, however, was extremely angry when asked if they are seeing each other. Anup, on the other hand, almost accepted that he is in love with his student, who is 37 years younger than him, in front of host Salman Khan.

This is the first time a Padma award winner and a mainstream singer has become a part of this hugely famous reality show. It will be interesting to watch the singer with an austere image be a part of Big Boss.

Anup Jalota is known for his devotional music, whereas Jasleen has been brought to the forefront by sensational singer Mika and travelled the world with him.
