Rahul Mishra's second single 'Dil De Huzoora' has influences of 90s music

MUMBAI: Half Girlfriend fame singer Rahul Mishra’s second single Dil De Huzoora released today. Penned by Kunaal Vermaa, the song has influences of 90s music.

Speaking about the song, Rahul said, “Dil De Huzoora is a melodious song, which was made overnight on phone by the lyricist of the song Kunaal Vermaa and me. It was during one late night music making sessions of mine, when a phrase ran through my mind. I immediately recorded and sent it to Kunaal. I received his reply after an hour, with some lyrics he had made. This is how the mukhda of the song was made. Later, in our creative replies, the antara of the song was also made. I recorded the whole song and sent it to Mohit Suri sir in the morning and he liked it a lot.”

Check out the song here:

The song brings back the feel of the 90s band scenario. On this idea, Rahul, further said, “90s era was a musical driven era that witnessed bands like Euphoria, Indian Ocean and others. You will see influences of 90s music in my song as I was greatly inspired by the band culture of that time, which is missing today.

Rahul and his team have come up with a unique idea of jamming with 90s singers to promote the song. The singer revealed, “Since the song brings back 90s influence, I thought of presenting it in front of famous singers, who ruled during that time, like Shaan, Hariharan, Leslie Lewis etc. and others. I wanted them to listen to my song and give me a valuable feedback.” As of now, Rahul has sung the song in front of Hariharan and Leslie Lewis.

This is Rahul’s second single with VYRL. On his experience of working with the music label, Rahul said, “It is a very fantastic experience. VYRL is helping to bring back the melody-driven area of the 90s. We have a creative freedom here apart from a great mentorship in the form of Mohit Suri sir and Vinit (Thakkar - Sr. VP India & South Asia - Universal Music) sir.”

Rahul’s earlier single was a lyrical video, unlike this one. On this Rahul stated, “Having a video for Dil De Huzoora was a part of the promotional strategy of VYRL. They would be the right ones to tell you about it.”

Besides, Rahul finds himself fortunate to have found a mentor in Bollywood director, Mohit Suri. On him, Rahul said, “Whatever I’m today is because of Mohit Suri. My big break in Half Girlfriend was because of Mohit sir. His musical sense is very nice. He explains the emotion of a song to us, very nicely, prior to its making and also gives us valuable suggestions. I’m lucky that I got both to meet and work with him.”

On bringing back the 90s band culture and independent artists, the singer further said, “Yes, the 90s culture should be back because not all of the struggling artists get a break in Bollywood. Independent music and artist must be thus promoted.”

Rahul signed off revealing about his upcoming projects, “There are other singles coming with Mohit sir also. I’m also working on certain Bollywood projects.”

Produced by Abhijit Vaghani, the music of Dil De Huzoora is also composed by Rahul Mishra.
