'MAA' wouldn't have been a soulful piece without its lyrics: Rishabh Srivastava

MUMBAI: It was an indeed a very special day yesterday! A day dedicated to all the gorgeous mums out there. We always fall short of words to describe and appreciate her hard work. But, Zee Music Company tried putting this feeling into words with their latest release MAA.

“This song wouldn’t have been a soulful piece if these lyrics weren’t there which are written by my father Rajeev Srivastav. There was a connect with my dad when he wrote the track and me when I composed it. The mood of the song is such that the person is missing his mom while he's busy with his career. So, this particular track also reflects my real life situation. The first verse of MAA, ‘Kyun haarta ja raha hu main, kaise jiyu main yaha’ gives a gist of it. Honestly, with my dad’s lyrics, I got the flow of the tune,” said singer-composer Rishabh Srivastava w.r.t MAA.

He added further, “I had earlier composed and this song was in process for almost two years. Earlier the track did seem to sound a little sad, then my dad changed the 'antras' and finally, it was done.”

MAA has been sung and composed by Rishabh, a trained Indian classical singer known for his compositions. The track happens to be his first as a singer. “This song is quite special to me and it was my best experience. The most beautiful part was when I did compose the track I was thinking about my mom, and when dad must have written he must have thought about my dadi. So that’s how we made connected through this song,” expressed Rishabh.

We would be getting to see more of Rishabh as he reveals, “I have five singles which would be out on Zee Music Company. In terms of Bollywood projects, I’m also in talks with a couple of directors and composers.”
