'Ae Watan' almost brings you to tears: Shankar Mahadevan

MUMBAI: The trio who have reached a milestone with their work in films like Bhaag Milkha BhaagLakshya and Aarakshan that have touched millions of hearts. Yes, it’s the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who elevate their music style with each song they compose/sing.

Lately, they have given music for Ae Watan, a track from the most awaited film Raazi.

“It’s a prayer song which depicts the emotional situation in the film. It’s based on someone who speaks about your country and your attachment for your country even in a different geographical location,” Shankar Mahadevan elaborates on the storyline of Ae Watan.

Music of Ae Watan is sure to pump your energy levels. “The melodic content got shaped really beautiful. We also recorded another version of the film more like stating the whole mood of the film with Arijit Singh at the end of the film. So there are two versions of the song,” says the music composer.

 “After Sabse Aage Honge Hindustaani we got a chance to compose a patriotic song, this song really moves you. Also, it would almost bring you to tears,” added Shankar.

 SEL have set their 2018 journey, they reveal, “We are currently shooting for a film with Shaad Ali starring Diljit Dosanjh for which Gulzar Sahab would be penning. We are also working on a film with Pooja Shetty. There would be a South Indian film called Saho which we are looking forward to. At the end of the year, we are doing one of the biggest Malayalam films and later we are working on a very big biopic Manikarnika which is a story of Rani Of Jhansi. Also, there are a couple of Amazon projects which are yet to start.”
