Mixtape Punjabi's sole love mashup to feature Guru Randhawa and Neha Kakkar

MUMBAI: T-Series’ Mixtape Punjabi is all set to release a special Christmas edition for its fans. Treating them with a love song, the most talked singers today, Guru Randhawa and Neha Kakkar will be rocking the Mixtape Punjabi stage with Guru’s hit numbers High Rated Gabru and Ban Ja Rani. The episode will release on 25 December.

Here is the teaser:

Talking about the performance, Guru Randhawa says, “It was great to know that both the songs selected for this mashup were my hit songs of the year. It was wonderful reliving and recreating yet another version of the song. The difference this time was the female voice in the song. A few lines have been changed to suit Neha. She got the song in one take and has done full justice to it.”

Neha Kakkar further comments, “I thoroughly enjoyed performing and singing both these songs. Since, both the songs belong to Guru and were hit songs of the year, delivering anything less than that wouldn’t do it justice. The lyrics of the song are also such that they had us grooving on stage.”

Being a love mashup, both the songs are beautifully merged into another. Interestingly, the singers will be further accompanied by a talented bunch of artistes performing and playing instruments like the ukeleles, nylon, steel, electric guitars, glockenspiel with tumbi, thad, tabla and dhols adding the Punjabi touch.

Music director Abhijit Vaghani shares, “We were considering a female voice to accompany Guru in this mashup, in fact, Guru suggested Neha Kakkar which was one of the best decisions. Being an all-out male version we had to make changes in the lyrics and keys to suit the female counterpart. Additionally, Guru had created Ban Ja Rani as a single and it was further recreated for a movie, both of them have performed extremely well. So, I took the base of Ban Ja Rani, added western elements and created a love version of the song, this is the only love version of the season.”
