Jazz up with Groove Gully at The Stable

MUMBAI: Are you looking at getting jazzed up? Thursday night at The Stable is for you. Jazz/Funk/Pop band Groove Gully will be performing from 9:30 pm. The band will be coming with a mixture of pop tunes which are jazzed up to jazz standards.

Groove Gully is primarily a five-piece Jazz/Funk/pop outfit based out of Mumbai formed in 2012. Ever since then, they've played at diverse venues like Hard Rock Café, Blue Frog, Out of the Blue, Three Wise Monkeys, The Little Door, The Local, The Bandra Base, High Street Phoenix, Celebrate Bandra 2014, The Andrean Fair 2015, and a couple of church fêtes. They've also toured Pune, Goa and Delhi gigging at Shisha Cafe, The Night market, The Piano man Jazz club to name a few.

Their current lineup is Zian Bhamgara on vocals, Brent Tauro on keys, Darren Fernandes on lead guitar, Sabyasachi Deb on bass, and David D'Souza on drums. What brought these talented folks together is just the pure love for jazz/jazz fusion/ funk and blues and the dire need to revive this beautiful genre in our country. They want to bring back jazz lovers, and reach out to newer audiences to turn them into jazz lovers as well.

The band won accolades at IIT Powai's festival Mood Indigo, 2012 gaining recognition out of 40 other bands that participated in the Band Event that year. Zian placed first in the all-India CBS PRIME IDOL CONTEST 2012, which was aimed at promoting fresh talent from all over the country.

On 13 August 2013, the band launched their first album Take A Chance at Blue Frog and have signed with the record label, Crescendo Music and marketed by Universal Music. Music Videos of their two top hits on their album, Over You and Miss Complicated” have been aired on TV.

They have been interviewed live on Drive Mumbai with Erica on 94.3 FM and four songs from their album were played on air. You can catch their songs on the show Indie-Thursdays with TJ Sidhuon 94.3 FM.

They were also featured in the Bombay Times section Band stand.

The band recorded a video for VH1 Music Diaries, performing their original, Spontaneity, from their album Take A Chance which was aired live on VH1 India on 13 March 2016.
