Singers and their airport controversies

MUMBAI: Celebrities have often been in news for having had a tiff with the airlines and the recent name to flash in this region is of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs host Aditya Narayan. The actor-singer was returning to Mumbai from Raipur when he got into a debate with an Indigo staff member. It all began with them demanding excess baggage charge, soon this debate turned into an ugly fight with Naryan abusing the staff member.

Which way this fight would head is still unknown but, Aditya is not the only one who has landed in trouble with an airline. Here is a list of other singers-composers who have had to face problems with airlines.

Mika Singh:

In 2013 singer Mika Singh was arrested at Mumbai International Airport for carrying currency beyond the permissible limit.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan:

Afreen singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was detained at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi in 2011 for carrying undeclared foreign currency of US $1.24 lakh.

Armaan Malik:

Armaan Malik also had a tough time with his air travel, the singer who was returning to Mumbai with his family in a Jet Airways flight found the locks of his bag broken after the security check of his luggage. The Pyar Manga Hai singer took to Twitter to express his anger against the airlines. The airlines then apologised for the incident.

Sukhbir Singh:

Sukhbir Singh who is known for his famous song Ishq Tera Tadpave was also detained at the Dubai Airport for carrying foreign currency more than the permissible limit.

Sonu Nigam:

This Kal Ho Na Ho singer, who was travelling on a Jet Airways flight, started singing songs when the passengers present demand. Sonu sang some of his iconic songs like Panchhi Nadiyan, Do Pal which was enjoyed by all the passengers as well as the staff on the plane. But this mid-air concert got five cabin crew members lose their job.
