Singer Sanjeevni croons spiritual songs for the season

MUMBAI: The first ever winner of television voice hunt show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Sanjeevni Bhelande recently came up with two regional numbers. She mesmerized the listeners with her melodious voice with songs Aamar Raat Pohaalo (Rabindra Sangeet) and Garba Unplugged.

The singer seems to have great regards for Rabindra Sangeet. She said, “I like Tagore songs and this one is a song of the season. It is a song where you bid adieu to the rain as the new season Sharad Ritu is coming in. I sang this song because it is a beautiful nature song.”

The melodious singer also performs every year for Durga Pooja. She said, “I know a lot of Bengali songs. I performed at Goregao for Saptmi, in Nerul for Ashtami and in Thakur Village Kandivali for Naumi.”

Sanjeeevni’s Garba Unplugged is more than words can describe. She said, “I did this song as it was much needed. Today lots of Garba songs are loud and youngsters dance to it. I feel somewhere we are losing the original raag and melody of the song. I did the medley of a melodious Garba song in unplugged style so that the lyrics and melody are prominent.”

The talented singer has a great knack for languages. She knows 12 languages, scripts her own concerts, has a strong Sanskrit and Urdu base and made more than 100 hit Nepali songs. Soon one will get to hear more spiritual material as she is coming up with Prarthana album in collaboration with Anup Jalota. She will also be releasing Urdu Gazal.
