Sri Lankan takeover at Budweiser x Boxoutwednesdays

MUMBAI: The next edition of Budweiser x Boxoutwednesdays will feature the sounds and stylings of selectors, Sunara and Asvajit from the island nation of Sri Lanka.

Designed to showcase sounds and styles that champion underground culture, the weekly residency is streamed live on www.boxout.fm to listeners around the world.

Having featured international names like world DMC champion Jon1st, Deadbeat, Brooklyn Shanti, Bjorn Torske, Philip TBC alongside homegrown talent like 2 Sensitive, Su Real, Moniker, Frame/Frame, Film, DJ MoCity alongside others, the weekly residency has become known for its diverse roster of acts.

No conversation of the electronic music scene in Sri Lanka is complete without mentioning Asvajit – musician and co-founder of iconic record label Jambutek and event company Bang Bang. Since its formation in 2014, Jambutek has played a key role in propagating electronic music in Colombo and around, giving its artists a legitimate platform to showcase their work and its audiences a space to learn about and enjoy contemporary sounds through regular workshops, seminars and some of the best parties this side of the world.

Asvajit regularly winds up dance floors across the island with a passionate mixing style and playful blend of funk-laden grooves and deep but powerful house and techno beats.

On the other hand Sunara is a DJ and Visual artist who have dared to break away the common approach laid down on dance floors in Sri Lanka. Since the time she started her journey as a DJ in August 2011 she has mentioned the uniqueness. . Sunara started her career playing more eclectic hip-hop, jazz and funk-infused glitchy beats, and has since gravitated to a nuanced and serious blend of often atmospheric and brooding minimal techno.
