MUMBAI: Shekhar Ravjiani's Devi is the the talk of the town, and there is an interesting fact behind Ravjiani’s thoughts while making the song. Knowing the concept behind Devi, one is sure to change one's perception of women in society.

“The cause of the girl child has been very close to my heart and the progress and education of every little girl is a dream I have always had. While the world may hear this song now, it has always been in my heart for years and what it represents is very important to me,” said the Devi singer.

Ravjiani also shared details about the making of Devi and how this concept come to his mind before execution. “Devi, just like all my other singles, was an instinctive creation. When I feel, I create.

And then don't look back. The process didn't have to be long since it was a direct expression of my emotions at the time. The best things always happen when we don't overthink and let out hearts lead the way,” said the singer.

Well, behind every successful work is a great team-work. Shot at beautiful locations in Ujjain, Devi is  a compilation of team effort. “I think as a team we pulled off the recording, shooting and compilation in less than a week. I am extremely grateful to have worked with fantastic people and close friends like Anvita Dutt who wrote the beautiful lyrics and Raj Kaushal, the genius behind the much-loved video. It takes great teamwork to create magic and I have been very lucky in that respect,”

Ravjiani has a lot of respect for women and the song is truly dedicated to womanhood. He shares his feeling for women in our country, how they have been treated and the way women over come circumstances.

“Devi is my heartfelt tribute to womankind and a celebration of everything they stand for. As a culture, we Indians have always worshipped goddesses and prayed for their divine power to bless us and our loved ones. Sadly, however, the same culture doesn’t give the living goddesses among us, our women and girls, the same kind of respect and love. Yet, time has shown, that despite being held back, our women are sheer powerhouses of strength and have risen time and again from even the most extreme circumstances to prove that they are forces to reckon with. It is this power that Devi represents in a musical form,” said the singer.

Every single created by Ravjiani is loved and has touched people’s hearts. Be it Hanuman Chalisa or Gayatri Mantra, people have always loved his work. “Every single that I have composed and sung has come straight from the heart and when I put a song out into the world and it comes back to me in the form of love and appreciation of many people, I feel immensely blessed, extremely grateful and humbled.
