Star Plus' 'Dil Hai Hindustani' gets its first winner

MUMBAI: Last weekend was indeed a big day for TV reality properties ‘Indian Idol 9’ and 'Dil Hai Hindustani’ as they declared their winners amidst dance and music. While the ‘Idol’ declared its ninth winner, ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ got its first winner. Haitham Mohammad Rafi was crowned as the winner. Rafi an international contestant won hearts and the ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ trophy with his mesmerizing voice.

Haitham is from Oman, and he left his career in Finance to become a singer in India. Thus, the victory means the world to this singer.

"I'm so grateful for everything I have got in my life. I never imagined a simple guy from Oman who left his job aspiring to become a singer would get so much love. I especially want to thank the lovely people of India, who gave me so much love and made me feel like home all this while as I was hundreds of miles away from it. The contestants, crew and the judges of ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’ are like family now; it will be difficult to imagine my life without them. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and for making my dream of becoming a singer in India, come true," said Haitham.

‘Dil Hai Hindustani’, took centre stage at a time when singing reality shows began during the heat of music reality shows were popping up on every channel. However, it was always the most loved show due to its unique concept. Singers who celebrated Indian music on the show were not only from India but many other countries.
