'Rog Jaane' will work commercially: Vipin Patwa

MUMBAI: Some get success early in their careers, while the others have to wait a little longer. Well, the wait has been prolonged for ‘Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana’ music composer, Vipin Patwa, but not anymore. The composer who entered the music scene in 2001 with masters in classical music and M Phil (vocal) with a specialization in Gazhals from Delhi University is now looking at taking up more commercial projects after having worked with music industry biggie Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for ‘Laali Ki Shaadi’.

Patwa has composed three songs for the upcoming film, ‘Bezuban’, ‘Rog Jaane’ and ‘Kyun Hota Hai’. “Bezuban has already received 2.5 million views and ‘Rog Jaane’ has just released. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has sung this track,” said the music composer who has also lent his voice to his third composition in the film. “The third song is sung by me and Mohammed Irfaan. This is also one of my best compositions in the film and I am sure everyone will love it,” affirmed ‘Bollywood Diaries’ music director. The music of ‘Bollywood Diaries’ also won the Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Music Award for it in 2016.

The music composer-singer began his musical career in 2001, but he hasn’t seen any commercial success. Explaining the reason for the same Patwa stated, “I have a laidback attitude when it comes to approaching production houses for projects. I usually take up the projects that come to me and give them my 100 per cent, plus I choosy. This can be one of the reasons for me not being a commercially successful music composer. I like working on projects that I feel will be remembered by people. ‘Bollywood Diaries’ is one such example.”

So, does Patwa expect his music in ‘Laali Ki Shaadi’ to be a hit? “Today music industry is pure business, if the songs are promoted well, they become hits. There has to be a banner behind you to pump in all the money. But, there are a few miracles that make it big without any support.”

He further added, “Rog Jaane’ will work commercially, but ‘Kyun Hota Hai’ is my favourite because it’s work of an artiste’s pure dedication and honesty.”

Patwa is looking at April being a new beginning with a few commercial Bollywood projects in his bag.
