'Bezubaan' a positive change for Indeep Bakshi

MUMBAI: The trend of YouTube viewership has become one of the most important parameters of judging the success of a song. Today a song receiving a million views in the shortest time span is considered a hit. The trend has to an extent taken away the importance of radio stations and TV song listing, but it has been a boon to the artiste. The latest singer basking in the glory of the success of his song is Indeep Bakshi.

The ‘Saturday Saturday’ singer's latest track ‘Bezubaan’ hit a million views in less than a fortnight. Well, that is definitely a victory.

With ‘Bezubaan’ Bakshi enters a different zone of song making, given the fact that most of his earlier tracks have been a party or romantic numbers. ‘Bezubaan’ is the story of a father-daughter relationship and the unconditional love that they share.

The singer released the song on Women’s Day this year. “We couldn’t find any better day to release the song than Women’s Day as the story revolves around two women. The story was initially planned to be a love story between a husband and wife. But it was Indeep’s decision to change the plot to a father-daughter story and the response is amazing,” said the director of the song, Vineet Kumar.

“The child artist Myra is a born artiste. In spite of so many people at the shoot, the little girl acted well and the presentation went beyond expectations,” added Kumar.

The track has let Bakshi showcase a new side of him. “I have done songs related to party, girls, alcohol, but I never thought of doing any single with a message. When ‘Bezubaan’ came to me, I realised how inspirational songs can be. The process of making ‘Bezubaan’ changed me from within. Now, I look forward to producing more single with a message,” said Bakshi.

When asked if he would now like to explore the re-creation zone, Bakshi said, “I hate the idea of re-creation because they are spoiling the essence of the original song which is not right according to me. I get many offers for recreations and I keep rejecting them for the same reason.”

Honest as he is, Bakshi further confessed that Independent music will be his true love as he continues to dabble between Bollywood and the former. “Bollywood projects happen haste as everyone is running out of time. There is too much happening at the last minute, something that’s not my cup of tea. When you work on independent projects, you have the time to live the song and bring the best on the table. Hence I prefer Independent music over Bollywood,” ended Bakshi.
