Bollywood's recreation spree sadly couldn't bring 'Cheez Badi Hain Mast Mast' back on the map

MUMBAI: After the sister of India decided to turn Kolkata into London, now Arvind Kejriwal wants to do the same with Delhi. I mean what is this weird obsession with being like London? Those guys changed the shape of Toblerone for god’s sake.

What is it with the people of our country?? What happened to original ideas? What happened to standing your ground? Bollywood is miles away from this philosophy when they want to earn a few bucks. They will pretty much steal from old Korean songs to this latest trend of electro popping every goddamn classic their professional forefathers put in their hearts and souls to create. There was a time when a Bollywood film could totally rely on the music for both quality and commercial success. Movies like ‘Saathiya’, ‘Dil Se’ are remembered more for the music and not because these movies weren’t great but the music was just brilliant.

But now the movies mostly are a pile of trash that try to catch some attention and cover up the trash they offer with yet more trash in the name of “recreating old Bollywood numbers.” Old classics like ‘Humma Humma’, ‘Kisi Se Pyar Ho Jaye’ and ‘Tamma Tamma’ have been cults in their time and their recreations have only grabbed attention because of the popularity of the original numbers. Not because of the ambient pads and unnecessary raps the filmmakers have put in the recreated versions.

However, the above mentioned songs did fare well in the market but the latest recreation of ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hain Mast Mast’ fell flat on its face. ‘The Mast Mast song’ has only made it to the news column because of its association with the yesteryear classic and obviously Akshay Kumar’s little comment about how his wife is his “Mast Mast girl.”

The song has, no points for guessing, scantily clad women, bass heavy beats and dance sequences with water, fire, earth and other elements. Yaaawnnn!!

It’s the same old trash served on a different plate but nonetheless the actors have shown promise and it is but hard to deny that the duo of Mustafa and Kiara Advani looks sizzling in the video and gives you hope that maybe just maybe ‘Machine’ might be worth a watch.
