Micheal Jackson fans help Tanishk Bagchi compose for 'Munna Michael'

MUMBAI: Tanishk Bagchi who's compositions have given us dancing hits like ‘Banno’ from ‘Tanu Wed Manu Returns’, ‘The Humma Song’ from ‘Ok Jaanu’ and the latest ‘Tamma Tamma’ Again from ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is all set to make us feel nostalgic about the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson.

The singer-music composer is currently working on tracks inspired by Michael Jackson for upcoming movie ‘Munna Michael’ starring Tiger Shroff, Nidhi Agarwal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Unlike most music composers who prefer lifting already existing tracks from some corner of the world, Tanishk went on to do some hard work to get the tracks right. The singer-music composer did ground research for ‘Munna Michael’, which included meeting MJ's fans and interacting with them. Social media was of great help here. It gave Tanishk access to over 200 MJ fans majorly from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata. The music composer did this in an urge to know what they really loved about MJ and his work.

The movie is based on a die-hard fan of Michael Jackson (Tiger Shroff) and how he dances on the national platform with the help of Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Talking about the new songs, Tanishk says, “Micheal Jackson is a legend and his fan following even after decades remains strong and intact. What I find extremely powerful is that his fan following breaks through all language and communal barriers. People in India and the most unlikely places follow his music and idolise him as a pop star.

"Thus, it was imperative and inspirational for me to reach out to his fans across cities and towns and gather some feeling of what they would expect a rendition of his songs to sound like. I connected with people via social media, asked them questions. My team helped me send out emails to ardent fans and gather the matter and on basis of what they spoke, I made the compositions.”

Directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Viki Rajani, the movie is slated to release on 7 July 2017.
