I am not just a radio jockey, I am more than that: Abhilash Thapliyal

MUMBAI: Red FM's multi-talented RJ Abhilash Thapliyal does not like being categorised as just an RJ. He wants one to see different sides of his personality. In fact, he likes being addressed as Abhilash and not an actor, comedian or a radio jockey.

In conversation with Radioandmusic.com Abhilash discusses how he wants to stay untagged and explore different aspects of his personality. “I work as a radio jockey but I am not a radio jockey, I am more than that. I can be an actor, singer and dancer.”

The talented man just does not believe in saying things, but also doing them. He has been showcasing the actor in him through his funny ‘Mufflerman’ videos -- A funny take on Arvind Kejriwal. Abhilash's 'Mufflerman' videos are completely in demand and this character also bagged him a few films.

Currently, he is working on a Bollywood movie ‘Makhna’ where he plays the lead role along with Tapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem. Abhilash has another movie lined up and it will release in the second half of the year.

Apart from acting Abhilash is also doing well as a voice over artist. He has lent his voice to Nat Geo, Bindass, Fox History, Hungama and Cartoon Network. He has also hosted World Kabaddi League on Sony Six and Gima Awards red carpet.

“So, Abhilash can do a lot of different things. I am doing digital, TV shows, hosting a lot of stuff, now doing a movie as well. I am also working on a web-series titled ‘Judgemental’ with Being Indian.” says Abhilash.

Abhilash is presently balancing it all, but there is something that he wants to invest his time and energy in. This something is hosting a television show. “Manish Paul is one of the finest hosts and nobody has made it in that space. So, maybe the other person in his space could be Abhilash Tapliyal. Manish has set a benchmark, that zone is amazing.”

Abhilash has hosted few shows earlier but he wants to create madness, as he says, ‘pagalpanti ho jismain’.
