Rahat Fateh Ali named ambassador of London-based charity

MUMBAI: Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan feels honoured to be named the ambassador of the British Asian Trust, which tackles poverty and hardship in South Asia.

Rahat Fateh Ali tweeted on Saturday: "Thank you British Asian Trust for the honour of becoming your ambassador, and meeting Prince Charles was overwhelming."

The singer shared a video of his performance at the event, where he is seen singing 'Tere Bin Nahi Lagda Dil' by his late uncle and legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by the Prince of Wales to tackle widespread poverty and hardship in South Asia. He engaged with the entrepreneurs of the British Asian diaspora, linking them with social entrepreneurs and grassroots interventions in the region.

Indian celebrities like designer Manish Malhotra and actress Sophie Choudry are also ambassadors of the trust.
