Goa Police chief wants Rafi fans to boycott ADHM

MUMBAI: Goa's Director General of Police Muktesh Chander on Wednesday made an appeal to all fans of Mohammed Rafi to boycott Karan Johar's ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (ADHM) for insulting the late legendary singer in the film.

Mohammed Rafi's son slams Karan Johar

Chander, who is also aflautist, on Tuesday tweeted: "Md. Rafi was one of the greatest singers of India and needs no certificate from anyone. If you are a Rafi fan, boycott this movie."

Rafi's son Shahid, has already criticised the film's director Karan for including a dialogue in the film that he found insulting to his star father.

In the movie, actress Anushka Sharma says: "Mohammed Rafi gaate nahi, rote the (Mohammed Rafi used to cry, not sing).

Chander also posted: "I am musically connected to Rafi Saheb and play his songs on flute. Any utterance against a great singer hurts his millions of fans like me."

Is Sonu Nigam unhappy with 'Ae Dil hai Mushkil' dialogue?

Mohammed Rafi, who has delivered innumerable hit songs like ‘Kya Hua Tera Wada’, ‘Baharon Phool Barsao’, ‘Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe’ and ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’, died in 1980.

The late singer had worked with producer Yash Johar -- Karan Johar's father -- in the 1980 film ‘Dostana’ for which he sang ‘Mere Dost Qissa Yeh Kya Ho Gaya’ and ‘Salamat Rahe Dostana’.

Meanwhile, the film -- which also features Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan -- is doing well at the box-office.
