Overwhelmed with 'Bheege Hum' response, Sourabh Joshi begins work on second single

MUMBAI: Sourabh Joshi hit bull's eye in his first musical attempt and he plans to repeat the act with another soulful track.

Joshi, who came down to Mumbai five years ago to pursue music, released his first single in 'Bheege Hum' under Zee Music. Joshi not just composed the music of his debut single with co-composer Prashant Majumdar, but he also sang the track. 'Bheege Hum' released early this month and it has garnered 50,000+ organic views on YouTube.

"The response that we are getting is amazing. Lots of people are liking our song. The radio stations in Pune and Jammu are also playing it. All of this is huge for a first attempt," exults Joshi, who has been a lead guitarist in bands of well-known Bollywood playback singers and composers like Mohit Chouhan, Madhushree, Mika, Anu Malik, Salim-Sulaiman, Bappi Lahiri and Akriti Kakar. He is currently a part of Rekha Bharadwaj's band.

The songs also available on various music apps like Gaana, Saavn and iTunes.

Everything connected with Joshi's first release seems to be like a fairy tale, but he was too unsure of things when he first decided to release a song from his song bank. "We (Sourabh-Prashant) have a lot of compositions and we were pitching these to film banners, with no positive response. During this time we thought of releasing one of the songs on YouTube. So we went ahead and shot the video and released it," stated the singer-composer.

A lot of help came from the lyricist of this song Pinky Poonawal. She is a Gima and Mirchi Awards nominated lyricist and has penned for Coke Studios too. Her lyrics have been sung by artists like Sunidhi Chauhan, Nikhil Dsouza, Richa Sharma, Kaushiki Chakraborty and many others. "I have done a lot of work, but being a part of someone's beginning was exciting for me," confessed the lyricist who also went on to act in the video.

Both Joshi and Poonawala acted in the video to give it a real feel. The video is directed by Raj Pendurkar.

The duo will also be featuring in their next music video that will either be a romantic or a folk number. It will be Joshi's solo composition. "I have already penned the songs and the shoot should begin soon. Raj will be directing us again," stated Poonawala.
