Sonu Nigam, Salim-Sulaiman get together for NALSA's 'Ek Muthi Asman'

MUMBAI: Some of the best names in the Indian music industry have got together to create awareness around NALSA, an authority that is mandated to provide free and competent access to justice to weaker sections of society, especially women and children.

National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is an attempt to breaks the myth of 'access to justice being in the hands of rich and powerful'.

‘Ek Muthi Asman’, is the voice of these real hard working and deserving people of India. The essence of this song, created by Prakash Jha Productions, lies in the visuals of the real people in the heartland of India- the working class, the women, the children, the labourers, etc. who make the real India.

NALSA is a statutory body constituted under the Legal Services Authority Act in 1987, in order to provide free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society. This body has been constituted in every state, district and taluka in order to impart justice to the needy. It is a body headed by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India as their Patron-in-chief and the senior most Supreme court Judge as the Executive Chairman.

The informative song has been sung by well known Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam, written by Manoj Muntashir and composed by Salim Sulaiman. The music video for the track has been extensively shot in more than 20 states across India including Kashmir, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Kerala, Gujarat, Karnataka, West Bengal, Jharkhand etc.

The song is just a beginning as it will be followed by 15 real life short stories and a 30 minute documentary. These stories will be based on true incidents where NALSA has been pivotal and successful in providing justice to the weaker sections. This will be launched on 9 November, celebrated as NALSA day this year.

Says Prakash Jha, “It was heart wrenching to feel the warmth in the eyes of the people when they felt that justice had been done to them.”
