I recorded two songs for Mahesh Bhatt's 'Dushman': Wajhi Farooki, Raeth

MUMBAI: The Indo-Pakistani band 'Raeth's front man Wajhi Farooki is coming back to the music industry after the remake of the film 'Zanjeer', starring Priyanka Chopra, alongside musical director Chirtan Bhatt.

The 'Bhulado' singer Wajhi is returning with two songs for Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming Punjabi movie 'Dushman'.

Confirming the reports, Farooki shared, “I have recorded two songs for 'Dushman'. One song is a recreation of an old Punjabi song ‘Challa’ and the other song is called ‘Maula Ve’. I recorded the song ‘Maula Ve’ for another movie, but the movie didn’t happen. When Mahesh Ji heard the song, he wanted to utilise that for this upcoming movie.”

“The song 'Maula Ve' is pop-rock based yet a devotional song,” added Wajhi.

We asked him about his childhood and inspiration. Talking about it passionately, he said that he started singing when he was nine years old and grew up watching his dad singing.

"I don’t have any formal vocal training. I have learnt singing by hearing legendary Late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Kishore Kumar, and Mehdi Hassan Khan along with Freddie Mercury (Queen), Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses). They have been my influences since my early days," added he.

Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming Punjabi film 'Dushman' is written and directed by Shagufta Rafique starring Punjabi actors Jashan Singh and Kartaar Cheema.
