This 'A cappella' twist to 'Banno' is a pleasant surprise

MUMBAI: Singer and lyricist Suzanne D'Mello and Raagatrippin group recently collaborated with playback singer Brijesh Shandaliya to recreat 'Banno Tera Swagger' from the film 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' (2015).

Although recreating songs has now become a trend in the music industry, 'Banno' received a complete different makeover. The no instrument revamped version of the song is a pleasant surprise.

"We have used mouth percussions instead of instruments for the song," says Brijesh.

The idea of the song came when Brijesh was on 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016' jury. Suzanne came to him and said "Let's do something with Banno".

"I was already under the notion of having overdone 'Banno'. Hence, I did not think there was scope for more," adds Brijesh.

But without giving a second thought, Brijesh agreed on the teaming up scene for the song.

The singer explans, "So basically the whole idea of making a new version of 'Banno Terra Swagger' was of Suzanne D' Mello. Then we met many times thinking of what we can create out of what we have. We knew it had to be different because it is already a hit song, Moreover people would look for something new in it."

Suzanne and Brijesh worked together and added rap, voice designing, programming and presented it as an entirely new video with the help of the formers bandmates.

Singer Swati Sharma, who has sung the original version lent her voice too for the 'A cappella' version.
