MUMBAI: Singer and rapper Fazilpuria says he wants to promote artistes from his home state Haryana through his record label.
"I have started my own record label called Fazilpuria Records. We are going to provide a platform to those artistes from Haryana who are unable to enter the music industry. We will have auditions and select singers and rappers.
"We want good artistes. We haven't decided how many people will be selected. We would like to support those who are not financially strong," Fazilpuria, whose real name is Rahul Yadav, said during a visit to the IANS headquarter here.
In fact, the rapper, who has given hits like ‘Chull’ and ‘2 Many Girls’, has launched his friend Priyanka Goyat, also from Haryana, with the new single ‘Jimmy Choo’.
"We have known each other for quite some time. We were discussing how he (Fazilpuria) wants to change the scenario of Indian music. Then we thought of doing something together. I got excited and then we started working on the song," said Goyat.
Released on 7 September, the party number, which was made at a budget of Rs 57 lakh, has already been viewed over 4,000,000 times.
"It is a folk song. We have modernised it so that people from all age groups can connect with it," she said.
How does Fazilpuria recover money?
"I do shows. Sometimes twice in a day and sometimes nothing in a week. Right now, I have taken a break from performing live as I am busy promoting the song. Soon, college fests will begin and then it is the wedding season as well. I will be soon going on Australia, Canada and the US tour," he said.
But he also added that he doesn't give much importance to money.
"For me, fame is more important. I will keep working. I won't let go of fame," he said.
He is also going to act in a Haryanvi movie soon.
"We are making a Haryanvi movie. I have been in the industry for just two years. So, I am just understanding it. Maybe, by next year, it will get finalised. I will act in it. It will be a gangster movie," he said.
