Amaal Mallik on melody of Noor, Badrinath Ki Dulhania

MUMBAI: While Amaal Mallik's first solo album for the movie 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' is on the move, we have got to know that he is all set for his next venture. The ‘Jab Tak’ creator is already done composing for ‘Noor’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, which will hit the theaters next year.

When we asked Amaal about the music of both, he said that Noor is very close to his heart and that it is something that happened out of the blue.

“You will keel over Sonakshi’s journalist avatar this time. I had sent my jingles demo to Sunhil Sippy who is the director of the film long back when I used to compose for ads. After four years, I am working with him and I am sure the music of the film will definitely stand out. I have done four songs for Noor as of now. The sound is minimalistic, also, there will be tracks with a fine blend of trap, hip-hop and electronic which never happened in Bollywood I assume. For reference, I can say the tone will be like Wake Up Sid, Ayesha. Kumaar and Manoj Muntashir both penned down the lyrics for film,” added ‘Sau Aasmaan’ composer.

On the other hand ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ has a very Northern touch to it, according to him. It's a song about how the girl has got head over heels and how his life is jacked.

“Badrinath songs are very young in their approach and sound production. The voices are going to be way younger, and you won't expect such voices in such a song. Instruments are more rooted, mostly Indian arrangements. To make it unique I've utilised instruments like Ukulele, Electric Guitars, Dhols and Nagaddas and an Ektara. It's got the sound of the land, mitti ki khushboo with a thumping bass line so that youngsters like it even more. Briefly, I would say, my composition is an absolute boy and girl quintessential dance number with quirky lyrics that can relate to a relationship trauma with a smile. There is a new singer-songwriter Akhil who has done a fantastic love song, and I've done the other track.”

When we asked him about the other tracks, he said, “The other tracks are too special to explain at this point, let it come and show the mettle (wink).”
