MUMBAI: Newlyweds Akriti Kakar and Chirag Arora celebrated six months of their marriage by welcoming Ganpati Bappa to their residence.

Interestingly, the couple did not go Ganpati idol hunting; in fact, they chose to create an eco-friendly Ganpati. “My mother Nirmal Kakar volunteered to create our Bappa with her own hands. She created the idol with papier mache from scratch, and decked him up in gorgeous handpicked clothes, pagdi and ornaments,” explained the ‘Staturday Saturday’ singer.

The decoration too was done by Kakar and her family members. The decor theme was the ritual thread "moli", which was put in frames. Keys of all sizes were hung with the help of the moli. “It depicted keys to all the great things in life, key to success, happiness and peace,” stated the singer.

The celebration lasted one and a half days with family and friends paying a visit for a darshan of Bappa.

On the day of the visarjan, Kakar and her family chose to immerse the idol at home.

“For Chirag and me, this has been the beginning of this new blissful innings,” said Kakar who wishes to welcome the Ganpati idol to their place every year.
