The Stage fame Kamakshi Khanna preps for second album

MUMBAI: Kamakshi Khanna, Delhi-based singer/composer who shot to fame after the first Indian English music reality show ‘The Stage’, is all set to release her second album.

Confirming the reports, the honey blend voice owner, Kamakshi Khanna stated, “Yes, I am working on my second album, Cakewalk (smiles). I am not sure whether there will be seven or eight songs, but I have composed eight songs for the album. If everything goes well, it will be released in October, hopefully.”

Kamakshi independently formed two bands ‘Kamakshi Khanna Collective’ and ‘River’ along with the very talented musicians, Pranav Pahwa, Nirvan Athreya, Gautam Menon, Anugrah Pandey followed by Utkarsh Varma, Abhilasha Sinha and Tarana Marwah (River) to make unique and beautiful music. In 2014 December, the band ‘Kamakshi Khanna Collective’ has launched their debut EP 'Much Mellow' which is now out on Soundcloud and OK Listen.

While talking about her upcoming album and other projects, she shared, “I created some pieces of music with Keshav Dhar from the world famous band Skyharbor using sprays, claps, jumping like monkeys, matchboxes and what not for the upcoming album Cakewalk. The sound of this album is, of course, Soul/RnB. My last EP was full of warmth and sweetness while this album will be more of my evolving journey; all of my songs are my musical expedition. The music is more matured, the sound is experimental. There will be songs based on RnB, ballad, and soul. The album features different genres and soundscapes while some are stripped down ballads and my very own folk tunes, some are heavy electronic tracks (at least heavy according to me :P) and some are just effortless RnB/Soul. However, I feel, one thing that binds the album together is the hooky pop melodies that define my sound."

In addition, she added that she is working for a Hollywood Film where she composed one track under Universal Music. She couldn't share more information about it, though.

“I will be also performing in Shillong and Pune at NH7 Weekender this year with my band ‘River’. As this will be my first time at NH7 Weekender I am so excited for all the good things to come,” she signed off.
