Underground Authority en route to second album

MUMBAI: Underground Authority, the Kolkata-based alternative rock / rap rock band is gearing up to release its second album 'Propaganda' by November.

Confirming the reports, Santhanam Srinivasan Iyer, the frontman of the band said, “The band’s last album was ‘You Authority’ and it was released two years ago. This year, we are coming back with an absolute new sound and appearance. The profile of the band and the sound has drastically changed. This time round, we took an adventurously bold and an excitingly daring step, towards being independent and not being attached to a label and other equivalent complications.” The band comprises of EPR on lead rap and vocals, Adil on lead guitars, Bubbla on bass and Sourish on drums.

Formed in early 2010 in Kolkata, their music is flavoured by a blend of alternative rock, rap rock, hard rock protest poetry and reggae. The only formidable rap-rock band from India, Underground Authority (UA) is noted for their socio-political messages / anti-capitalism agenda in their song lyrics.

Speaking about it, Srinivasan added, “The album includes nine tracks. We have already released one single, 'Azaad' from our upcoming album. We will be releasing a video teaser release of another single 'Gypsy' from the same album tonight. The video is India's first band music video shot in 360 degrees with stunts. Thanks a lot to Notchfx Studio for pitching the idea to us.”

“We will be releasing the EP including five tracks, Gypsy, Raasta Tera, Azaad, Renegade and Am I free on OK Listen on 21-22 August 2016 and the whole album including nine tracks will be released in October end or November. We had released our debut album, 'You Authority' at Blue Frog in the past and another time we are back with our EP launch in Blue Frog itself,” he added.
