Shilpa Rao partners with Big FM to pay tribute to Army soldiers on Independence Day

MUMBAI: Singer Shilpa Rao along with Big FM has decided to come forward to pay tribute to army soldiers on 70th year of India’s Independence. This is the third time when Big FM took the initiative of paying homage to the soldiers through their campaign ‘BIG Paigham Sarhad Ke Naam’. This year, singer Shilpa Rao along with RJs of Big FM will travel to Bangladesh Petrapole border to celebrate Independence Day with the 'jawans' posted there. In order to make it even more special and a day worth remembering, Shilpa Rao and the RJs will carry the ‘paigham’ of listeners and families of the jawans and share it with them.

While speaking to radioandmusic.com Shilpa Rao said, "It is very special as its a privelage for me as they have been doing so much for us. there is no form in which we can repay them. Probably, this is the only way through which we can contribute a bit in return to what they have been doing for the country. I am quite excited and thankful to Big FM for our partnership."

Shilpa and the RJs of Big FM started their journey post launch event of 'Big Paigaam Sarhad Ke Naam' in Mumbai on 8 August. The main event which will take place on 15 August will be hosted by RJ Sidharth. The RJs will also be doing fun activities and interaction with the soldiers and Shilpa has prepared a list of renditions that she will be performing for them.

"We will be doing mix of lot of things. As it is on India and Bangladesh border, we will be performing notable vocalist Runa laila's rendition who actually belongs to Bangladesh. Our 'Jawans' are from punjab so punjabi songs also remain our preference. I will also be getting songs from my current album 'Suno'," added Shilpa.

Although, Shilpa's background does not hold anyone from army, she has grown up in Jamshedpur around army camp."I have friends who are from army. The only thing I gather from them, they are 'Iron men'. The soldiers are not super heroes or text book heroes but actually, they are the real life heroes who have overcome so much, fought for others. They are selfless and fearless. That is the whole definition of soldiers and real heroes I know," explains Shilpa.
