A R Rahman to take his Intimate Tour to UK in September

MUMBAI: A R Rahman will follow up his successful US concerts with an 'Intimate Tour' to Britain in September 2016.

The multi-talented, Oscar-winning composer will be performing in London, Birmingham, and for the first time ever in Leeds and Manchester. The A R Rahman UK Intimate Tour kicks off at London’s SSE Arena Wembley on 22 September, then heads to Birmingham Barclaycard Arena on 24 September and in Leeds on 29 September and Manchester on 30 September.

Apparently, Rahman will be showing his distinctive musical style along with a fine blend of classical music, contemporary electro, world music, and customary orchestral arrangements.

According to Rahman, “After the successful 18-date ‘Intimate’ tour in the US last year, we really wanted to bring it over to the UK. The show has all kinds of songs, some are Hindi, some Punjabi, and there is a lot of music to hear! ‘The Intimate Tour’ is all about music, it’s all about intimacy and seeing you face to face, and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.”

In the past as a touring musician, Rahman has collaborated with musicians like Mick Jagger, Will.I.Am, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Shekhar Kapur and Baz Luhrmann, as well as many of the world’s most respected orchestras. Rahman remains one of the few mainstream artistes, whose works have been classically interpreted by the likes of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Babelsberg Film Orchestra, and the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, and six honorary doctorates are some of his many accolades.

This summer, his fans in the UK will have the exceptional opportunity to experience an incredible concert by The Mozart of Madras.
