'Banjaara' singer Mohammed Irfan sings for Pakistani film

MUMBAI: Bollywood playback singer Mohammad Irfan who recently lent his voice to 'Tere Naina' for '7 Hours to Go' seems to now also have a loyal fan base in Pakistan. Wondering how? Well, Irfan who has given some hit songs like 'Banjaara' from 'Ek Villan', 'Behne De' from 'Raavan', 'Phir Mohabbat' from 'Murder 2' and 'Muskurane' from 'City Lights' was recently approached to sing a song for a Pakistani film titled 'Sawal 700 Crore Dollar Ka'.

Irfan, who is currently basking in the success of 'Tere Naina', confirmed the same and said, "I was a bit surprised when the song came to me. It is the usual Bollywood number titled 'Bin Tere'. I recorded for the same in Mumbai, India."

Irfan had a few reservations on singing the song. "I wanted to hear the lyrics and the music of the song before going ahead with it. I did not want the lyrics to be demeaning in any way. So, they sent me the same and it sounded good," explained the singer.

'Bin Tere' released a couple of days ago and it has been instrumental in adding to the singer's fan base in Pakistan. "This song is a dedication to all my fans in Pakistan," averred he.

Interestingly, Irfan is not just choosy with the lyrics of his new projects, he is selective in general. " I stay away from songs with double meanings. I do not feel too comfortable listening to such songs. I know there is a huge audience for such songs, but I don't think I would ever do justice to such lyrics."

With Irfan's music going places one would expect him to try different genres, but the singer is not too keen on experimenting at the moment. He is content with the way things are panning out for him. "I have got good melody and lyrics in the past and people are appreciating it. I recently also sang a naughty, peppy number in 'Jab Tum Chaho'. So, honestly, I am not too eager to try different songs."

Independent music is also something that Irfan likes contributing to. His last independent single was 'Zikr Tera' with Zee Music and he is currently busy planning another single.
