Harshdeep Kaur to perform in Roohani Music Festival for the first time

MUMBAI: Popular playback Singer Harshdeep Kaur who is known for her songs ‘Ik Onkar’, ‘Kateya Karoon’, ‘Heer’, ‘Kabira’, ‘Uff’ and ‘Jugni’, will be performing for the first time in Radio Mirchi's Roohani Music Festival on 4 June 2016 in Mumbai. "I am really excited about it. It is a purely Sufi based music festival and Radio Mirchi has invited me for this along with legendary singers such as Wadali Brothers and Rekha Bhardwaj," said Kaur.

Radioandmusic.com had a rapid conversation with the 'Katiya Karoon' singer and while talking about her musical journey, she said, "I started learning classical music at the age of six from Mr. Tejpal Singh. Since then, I wanted to be a singer. It has been a great journey all the way through and as I hail from a musical family, my parents have supported me all the time. I feel blessed that I have worked with some leading music composers in India such as A R Rahman, Amit Trivedi, Pritam Chakroborty, Vishal-Shekhar, and Salim Sulaiman."

While speaking about current Bollywood music scenario and the growing EDM scene in India, Harshdeep, the aficionado of Jagjit Singh, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan said, "Earlier, it was more melody based songs, but now Bollywood has different tunes which are actually beneficial for diverse singers and composers. However, I don’t really think the growing EDM scene is changing the commercial music outlook. Diversity is always a good stance and many music composers are catering towards unique pieces of music based on the progress and listeners, of course."
