Madhushree and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan get together for 'Sajnare'

MUMBAI: Madhushree Bhattacharya, a gold medallist in Indian Classical Music and a well-known playback singer recently recoreded 'Sajnare' with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The song will be a part of a Punjabi movie titled 'Saadey CM Saab'.

"The song is a melodious, romantic yet groovy number and it was great working with Rahat,’’ said the 'Kabhi Neem Neem' singer.

Madhushree who hails from a musically inclined family, has been trained in classical and western styles of music. She has also been a classical teacher at Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and has carved a name for herself in the Bollywood industry, but Bollywood did not happen to her easily.

Back then singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik were ruling the music industry therfore, the music directors and composers advise Madhushree to sing like them. Some even asked her to emulate Lata Ji and Asha Ji’s singing style. "Being a classical and Thumri singer, it was not something I wanted to achieve. It was quite disheartening," stated the 'Tu Bin Bataaye' singer.

However, her world changed after a meeting with A. R. Rahman at 4D Studio. "I sang 'Kabhi Neem Neem' for him and my life changed. Fortunately, all of my songs have been well-accepted since.’’
